Los que pueden decirlo, saben lo que es dormir en una cama IKEA, vestir unos pantalones H&M o haber bailado Roxette. Estos son mis tres ejemplos, y dicen que por muy sencillo que pueda ser un proyecto, no significa en absoluto que no sea ambicioso.
En mi propia versión de lo que puede suponer semejante proyecto, en la idea puramente musical, que es lo que nos concierne. He de decir que nunca he dejado de admirar el carácter nórdico a la hora de lanzar ráfagas de aire nuevo en cada ritmo en el que se proponen participar. En cuanto uno se pone a escoger, acaba encontrando grandes promesas que, sin importar su edad, tienen energía suficiente para sorprender.
Es el caso de las nuevas promesas del Indie sueco, I Break Horses, compuesto por Maria Lindén y Fredrik Balck. Quienes con sus letras llenas de ecos, nos llevan a navegar por algunos paisajes nórdicos, donde la brisa electrónica puede transformar los días en noche, en un instante. Han sido excepcionalmentes hábiles a la hora de haber encontrado, en un momento como este en el que buscamos salir de estereotipos convencionales, y alejándose de sus propias influencias. Un ritmo electrónico básico que se destruye en la mitad de las canciones con guitarras profundas y cadenciadas, ¡Indie en su más pura expresión! Es así como sus temas no sólo nos dejan abierto el paladar, sino que esperamos que sigan en esa búsqueda que parece continuar a través de su carrera en conjunto.
Para recomendar especialmente, su canción “Hearts” es toda una oda a la tristeza dulce, que nos inspira el norte. Pero no creáis que pienso que sólo transmiten sentimientos grises, porque al final no dejan de ser ni más ni menos, que el inicio de una explosiva bomba de energía. Para llegar a este punto tenemos que escuchar “Cancer”, será como volar a esa realidad que nos quieren regalar con este álbum. Su función la cumplen, yo me los llevo en mi bolsillo y aunque me quede con un sabor agridulce después de escucharlos, no dudo en darle al play de nuevo, dejan un vacío que ellos mismos son los únicos capaces de llenar.

If there is one thing that the Swedes have, it is their capacity to innovate. Those who would care to admit it, know what it means to sleep in an IKEA bed, dress in trousers from H&M or to have danced to Roxette. These are my three examples to say that while a project may appear simple, it does not mean that is not ambitious.
In my own version of how just such a project can manifest, in a purely musical sense, which is what concerns us here, I must say that I never cease to admire the Nordic character when it comes to launching new ideas with each rhythm they produce. In each one you come across, I always find a great reassurance in that, regardless of your age, it will always have the power to surprise.
This is the case of the new promise of Swedish Indie, I Break Horses, composed of Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck, who with lyrics filled with echoes navigate us to northern landscapes where the electronic breeze can transform day into night in an instant. They have been exceptionally skilful at having found, during times like these when we aim to move away from conventional stereotypes, and whilst breaking away from their own influences, a basic electronic rhythm that destroys itself in the middle of each song with deep and cadenced guitars, Indie in its purest form! This is how their tracks do not just leave us deliciously longing, but also wishing for them to continue with their objective that has defined their careers together throughout.
By special recommendation, their song "Hearts" is an ode to the sweet sadness that inspires the north, but please, don’t be misled into believing that I think they only express feelings of greyness, after all they are still nothing more, nor less, than an explosive bomb of energy. This takes us to the point where we have to listen to "Cancer", which transports us to a reality that they define with this album.
With their mission complete, I took them into my heart, and although I was left with a bittersweet taste after listening to them, I didn’t hesitate to press play again, they left me with an empty space that only they were able to fill again.
